Kind words

A wonderfully relaxing first stay at Smugglers Cottage. We’ve had a thoroughly enjoyable stay – warm and cosy in spite of Storm Ciaran! Excellent base for enjoying Snape Maltings and exploring the locality. We took great advantage of going to the opera at Snape, eating in the restaurant and picking up some lovely food in the deli – all with 10% off. A really great stay!

We had a good church crawl yesterday, such a wealth of medieval treasures in the area. Tried out my inflatable kayak today. The launch platform just the other side of the bridge works alright and it is no problem getting under the bridge at high tide. It was rather windy and choppy beyond Iken and not easy to find the channel as the tide ebbs – but a good experience.

We have visited Snape Maltings on numerous occasions but this is the first time we have stayed on site. Smugglers Cottage was cosy and very well equipped. The small Christmas tree was an added bonus! We really enjoyed our stay here.

A very cosy cottage with everything we needed. My uncle used to use this sitting room as his Night Watchman’s office back in the day of the Maltings. My great grandfather was a Maltster here – James Howell.
