There is an excellent selection of places to eat at Snape Maltings, from freshly prepared local food and cream teas to cafés overlooking the Alde estuary, giving guests one of the best views of reeds, water and sky in the UK.

Café 1885

Open 10am–5.30pm • Sunday 10.30am–4.30pm

A bustling restaurant overlooking House and Garden, open for brunch, lunch and traditional cream tea.

Head Chef Daniel Bunce creates a menu of fresh, delicious and inventive dishes, and is committed to working with local producers through our network of local suppliers. Daily specials are available and the menu changes every month to coincide with the Farmers’ Market.

Granary Tea Shop

Open 10am–5pm • Sunday 10am–4.30pm

With plenty of outdoor space close to the river, the Granary Tea Shop is the perfect spot for morning coffee, afternoon tea, and as a meeting place for a light lunch.

Sandwiches, baked potatoes and panini are freshly prepared to order. Our soup is made upstairs in Café 1885, and sausage rolls and a selection of cakes baked by Dawn in the Tea Shop team. Scones and bread are delivered each morning from a local bakery to ensure quality and freshness.

Concert Hall Café

Open 2 hours before concerts until their end • daily from Easter–October

With its glorious panoramic views over the River Alde, a new wine and drinks list features artisan spirits, local soft drinks and a wonderful range of wines by the glass, you can enjoy a drink whilst enjoying the best vista in Suffolk.

On concert nights a wide variety of hot and cold food is available before all performances, served in a quick and informal style.

Between the Easter school holidays until the end of October, a daily café is open from 10am–4.30pm. The Head Chef Michael Hunt provides a lunch menu with an emphasis on fresh and healthy salads.  With its breath-taking backdrop, the Café is also a perfect place to meet friends, relatives or business colleagues for coffee and cake.

Concert Hall Restaurant

Open 2 hours before and after most concerts

The top floor Concert Hall Restaurant is open for dining whilst enjoying the best vista in Suffolk before and after all evening performances in the Aldeburgh Festival and Snape Proms, and for many other events throughout the year. Farmers' Markets

Come and enjoy one of Suffolk’s finest food markets, a exciting array of fresh produce – from vegetables, fruits and juices to locally-reared meats and delicious artisan bakes and cakes – all under one roof.

Held at the Maltings on the first Saturday of every month, with additional seasonal Easter and Christmas events, this is a wonderful start to the weekend for many, so arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Plough & Sail

Food served midday–2.30pm • 6pm–late

At Snape Maltings, we are lucky enough to have a village pub on the site run by Alex and Oli Burnside. There has been a pub here since the 16th century, when it was a smugglers inn.

Today, the traditional bar area is complemented by a light and airy modern restaurant.
