Visitors arriving by car or bike from the A12 should take the A1094 signposted towards Snape Maltings. Turn right at Snape Church onto the B1069, then continue through the village of Snape before turning left into Snape Maltings (postcode IP17 1SP).
The Pumphouse, Jubilee Hall and Elizabeth Court (artist accommodation) are all located in Aldeburgh. By road, continue along the A1094 after turning off the A12.
There are bus services from both Aldeburgh and Woodbridge to Snape, with a bus stop outside the Maltings.
You can hire a bike at Ipswich railway station in Suffolk with Bike & Go. It’s a 22 mile journey by road but more stations may be added to the Bike & Go network in the future.
Visitors arriving by train will need to take a Greater Anglia service to Saxmundham station, via Ipswich. The journey is about 2 hours from London Liverpool Street.
Saxmundham is a approximately 4 miles by road from Snape Maltings. We recommend booking a taxi in advance if you need one.
Please note the final train west from Saxmundham is usually at 9.57pm. If time is tight sometimes it is possible to catch the last train from Wickham Market station (in Campsea Ashe) which is further along the line, 5 miles from Snape by road.
The closest port is Harwich, which has services from the Hook of Holland and Esbjerg in Denmark. From Harwich Greater Anglia operate a train service to Saxmundham, changing at Manningtree, or it is a 90-minute drive to Snape or Aldeburgh. Ferry services can be checked here www.aferry.co.uk
