A performance showcasing the music created in criminal justice settings by Snape Maltings and the Irene Taylor Trust.
For Snape Maltings, 2019 marks 20 years of work within custody settings and in particular our unique partnership with HMP Warren Hill. The Re:Lease performance showcases this work and celebrates music’s ability to act as a tool for engagement and social development.
Since 1995, the Irene Taylor Trust has delivered more than 350 projects in prisons across the UK, supporting groups of prisoners to form a band and generate their own original material over an intensive five-day period of music making. Performers from their most recent Music in Prisons project will be performing some of the songs they wrote this week. As part of the Trust’s Sounding Out programme, which bridges life inside and outside prison, performers from the band Multiplay perform their original music.
