Wellbeing is now strongly linked to happiness and life satisfaction. In short, wellbeing could be described as how you feel about yourself and your life.
What influences our wellbeing? What does it mean to you? How do we know when we are experiencing wellbeing? What can we do to achieve wellbeing?
In this session we will look at ways to improve your wellbeing through:
- Long-term health benefits of being present.
- Ways to be mindful in everyday situations
- The use of language to support well being
- Physical and emotional benefits of calmness
- Learning easy relaxation techniques
- Boosting your self-belief
Open Minds is led by Kathy Kent (BA (hons), Dip Clin Hyp, Master NLP Coach) and Tracy Virr (GTCL (Hons), ALCM, LTCL, Dip Clin Hyp, Master NLP Coach)
I have a degree in Education and Sociology, a Diploma in Social Work, Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, NLP & Life Coaching & Master NLP. I am an advanced Lightning Process Practitioner. I have eight years’ experience of living with chronic illness, unable to work or look after my family. Crucially I have experience of getting completely well using NLP techniques which I discovered in 2006. My working background is in Social work. In 1998 I had to stop due to chronic fatigue syndrome/ME. Not being able to recover was a shock to me; no one could tell me how I could get well again. I spent nearly 8 years (and loads of money) trying any alternative and conventional treatments and therapies.
As soon as I was well and confident that I would stay well, I wanted to let people know that there are ways to get well, rather than the awful feeling of being stuck like this forever. Since 2007 I have been working with people with a variety of acute and chronic symptoms and conditions. When I started out I thought if I can help one person get well all the new learning and training is worth it! It has been my privilege to help hundreds of people. In that time I have been able to hear about how people have responded to life events and experiences and how unknowingly have triggered off the stress response followed by debilitating physiological symptoms. I want to let more people know how we can influence our own lives, by replacing worry and anxiety with enjoyment and calmness.

I trained as a classical pianist and have 30 years of experience as a teacher, performer and coach. I am a practitioner of NLP, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness and Life Coaching.
I discovered NLP through my youngest daughter, who had ME/CFS for four years (from age 12 – 16). After a long search for a solution to this debilitating condition, I witnessed her regain her health using techniques based on NLP, Hypnotherapy and Life Coaching. She has literally been transformed from someone who was wheelchair bound, to now living for every moment.
I was compelled to study these powerful techniques for myself and put them into practice, particularly once I had realised that they have such a wide application for so many issues that affect most people. I very soon discovered that these techniques are also incredibly powerful when applied to performance: providing tools for life that are easy to use.
I feel privileged to be in a position to be able to help and coach people to a new way of life, using my experience as a coach, and to help them live a life that is fulfilling and joyful.
