Listening Walk

4pm and 7pm each Saturday and Sunday in August

Part of Snape Proms

Listening Walks at Snape Maltings give you the chance to immerse yourself in the sounds of the Alde estuary's remarkable natural environment.

Exploring Snape Maltings’ remarkable natural environment, our series of Listening Walks, running each Saturday and Sunday in August, give you the chance to focus on your sense of listening.

Guided by sound artists and field recording professionals Mike Challis and Meg Amsden, the walks invite you to take part in an hour of intense listening as we walk along the bank of the River Alde, alternating between silent listening and discussions of what has been heard.

At the end of the walk, you will have the chance to hear recordings of bird calls to help you identify what you have heard and take new skills away with you.

4pm ‘Pre-Prom’ Listening Walks are timed to get you back in time to eat before the evening concert.
7pm ‘Sunset’ Listening Walks are for visitors who are not attending the evening concert.

Walks last approximately 90 minutes and are approximately 1.5 miles long. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear. We regret that dogs are not allowed.
