Kansas Smitty's House Band

Sunday 20 Aug 2017 7:30pm

Kansas Smitty’s House Band already have two critically acclaimed albums to their name and a third on the way. To date this group of self-professed “jazz-addicted twenty-somethings” have earned their well-deserved reputation as one of the best live acts around. Audiences agree. The Band have sold out every headline show they played in 2016: Bath International Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, The Jazz Cafe and the Shoreditch Town Hall.

As their more recent second album, “Kansas Smitty’s House Band Live”, exemplifies, the Band make wide use of the sour mash of styles that has allowed them to cross the divides between generations and dispositions. Moving through sounds of swing, blues, R&B, New Orleans second line and gospel, they pursue a sound of their own, seeking out and creating a new audience for their music.

For one night only, the band will be bringing their inimitable brand of original swing music to Snape Proms. When the Kansas Smitty’s roadshow mobilises, you’d better be ready to go.

‘If jazz is to survive it will need more bands like this one’
