Susan Moore director

Inspired by a true event in 2013 at Barber’s Point on the banks of the River Alde in Suffolk, where a casket of personal treasures was discovered in the Anglo-Saxon grave of a young woman, Hepplewhite’s score transports us from a modern day archaeological dig to the ancient world of this mysterious maiden, unlocking the secrets of her life and death…

The Casket Girl will be preceded by THE HISTORY EXPRESS – a newly commissioned song cycle for primary school children, with music by Russell Hepplewhite and texts by Helen Eastman. It will be performed by around 50 children from several schools, following sessions in schools during the autumn.
