Into a Stranger Cavern: Repetition, Memory and Image

In an event drawing together several threads found elsewhere in the festival, poet and novelist Lavinia Greenlaw explores how memories, ideas and images form. Drawing on poetry, painting, music and noise, she also references caves, railway tunnels, weather, carpets, diary pages and early photographs.

The event ends with a showing of The Sea is an Edge and an Ending (20’), a short film written and directed by Greenlaw, shot in Suffolk, investigating what it means to lose your memory and disappear into the present tense. Its framework is a sequence she wrote about her father’s death from Alzheimer’s.
