Mind games – the frailty of memory
Director Rebecca Hanbury and composer Alex Groves are an inventive and free-spirited theatre-making duo.
Their new work explores the fallibility and frailty of human memory. What happens when the precision of memory fails us? How does our mind edit and interpret long-distant, semi-forgotten experiences (joy, pain, excitement and regret) to shape our life stories and define the people we are – or the people we would like to be? Drawing on scientific research, they experiment with sound and music, technology and theatrical techniques to foster a feeling of fleeting illusions, of things forgotten, falsely conjured, cherished and obsessed over. A world where nothing is quite what it seems…
All sessions in the Festival of New last about an hour.
The Concert Hall Café will be open as normal on Friday and Saturday 10am-5.30pm serving food from 12-3. Street food stalls and the bar will be open in the Hoffmann Building from 5-9pm on Friday and 3-9pm on Saturday.
