Into the Great Wide Open...
Sue Pardoe and Angie Salfield work in contrasting, but complementary ways.
Friday 24 – Thursday 30 MarchFree Event
As psychology students in their 20s they explored ‘the inside’ of people’s worlds. Losing touch for a time, in their 40s they re-established their friendship. They had worked as teachers and therapists, but had also developed keen interests in creative arts. 20 years on their focus has moved again and is concerned with exhibiting to ‘the outside’ world their exciting explorations.
As ‘outsider artists’ (Grayson Perry’s description for self taught artists) their works are outgoing and engaging. Sue’s paintings are striking in her use of watercolours and explores the fluidity and blending of strong tones. Together with her mixed media pieces her collection is vibrant and exciting.
Angie designs and constructs large textile and screen printed pieces which use materials and techniques in fascinating ways. They invite you to interact with them both visually and sensorily. Her use of colour complements Sue’s.
Open 10am–5.30pm • Sunday 10.30am–4.30pm
