Filling the Cracks with Gold
Friday 2 - Wednesday 7 June
The title derives from “Kintsugi”, the Japanese practice of filling the cracks of mended ceramics with gold. They believe that once something has suffered damage and is mended it is even more beautiful.
Both Liz Goulding’s and Liz Radford’s work is derived from landscape significant to them in a recent time of change and healing.
Liz Goulding’s bold colourful contemporary oil paintings and “painting with threads” are emotive compositions, layered and textured, sometimes revealing, something obscuring the things that matter.
Liz Radford’s delicate lacy woven embroideries are inspired by the local landscape of her birth, a celebration of the patterns of nature and of coming home.
