Exhibition: Young Art East Anglia
Fri 13 - Sun 15 March
Young Art East Anglia is an annual art competition for Suffolk’s primary school pupils, that raises money for Cancer Research UK. This year’s judge, Suffolk based artist Mimi Nicholson, will choose highly commended from different age categories plus first, second and third placed pieces which will then be professionally framed. About 350 selected art will be displayed at the Peter Pears Gallery in Aldeburgh. Winners are notified by late February.
This year Young Art East Anglia are delighted to again have Imaginative Traveller as one of their main sponsors along with Gressinghams, Deben Group Industries, Coes, Southwold Maize Maze, O&C Butcher, Bedfords, Hill Farm Oils and Suffolk Hideaways. The sponsors’ support is vital and ensures the donation to Cancer Research UK is as large as possible by covering the competition’s running costs.
Chair of Young Art East Anglia, Heidi Norman comments, “We are very much looking forward to collecting the children’s art on this year’s theme of ‘A Moment in Time’ from the 54 participating schools. It is always amazing to see the talented work that our local children produce with the help and guidance from the teachers in Suffolk. The amount we raise towards funds for Cancer Research UK has increased year on year, we are very grateful of the continuing support of Young Art.”
Mimi Nicholson adds “I’m delighted that yet again so many schools are involved in Young Art East Anglia and look forward to seeing what I am sure will be a huge variety of interesting art. Judging the highly commended entrants and winners will no doubt be very hard!”
