Exhibition: Sea of Stars

Thursday 23 - Wednesday 29 May

The timeless wonder of the cosmos and the natural world is interpreted in all its phenomenal beauty and mystery through Val and Sarah's expressive paintings and drawings.

Suffolk-based artists Val Bright-Jones and Sarah Bale met in 2010 studying for a BA Hons Fine Art degree at Suffolk University. Sarah first studied at Chelsea School of Art, whilst Val’s art studies began at Hornsey School of Art.

Val makes copious observational drawings from landscapes and coastlines. Back in the studio she works from memory to capture the multi-sensory experiences of time and place, creating impressionistic rather than purely representational acrylic paintings, sometimes human presence is included or suggested.

Through ink, graphite and oils, Sarah explores the mystery and beauty of the cosmos. For this exhibition, she has focused on the moon, the stars and our own connections to the universe, for her source of inspiration.

Both artists have exhibited widely, but are excited to be sharing their first exhibition together at The Garage Gallery in Aldeburgh.
