The Maltings Gallery

We are delighted to be hosting an exhibition of Fred Ingrams’ work created whilst on his residency at Snape Maltings last year.

“What my time at Snape made very clear is that as a landscape painter I was forced to paint in a different way. I realised I had to let the landscape dictate how to paint. It is only by spending time in a landscape that you can work out how to paint it. Every landscape has its own rhythm, colours, light, and emotion and it is only by being alone in a landscape that I can start to get a proper understanding of these things and able to express its sense of place.

I’m so grateful to have been given time to get to know the landscape around Snape Maltings and to get to know it in paint.

The resulting paintings were all painted plein air on beautiful misty December days last year.”
