ETO - Rameau: Dardanus
Friday 3 Nov 2017 7:30pm
Part of Autumn Concerts
English Touring Opera proudly present the first UK performance of Rameau’s masterpiece Dardanus, a ravishing tale of love in war.
Jupiter’s son Dardanus is in love with Iphise, the daughter of his enemy Teucer – a love that, though reciprocated, is forbidden. So begins a ravishing tale of love in war, containing some of the composer’s finest music including the stunning aria ‘Lieux funestes’.
"there are musical pleasures galore in this Dardanus. Gregory's prison aria is a small masterpiece that he sang with great beauty and commitment, and Galina Averina was a vulnerable delight as his beloved Iphise."
Mark Valencia, What’s On Stage
"Rameau’s music is continually engaging, a kaleidoscope of moods and colours"
