Composer and pianist Elliot Galvin is a rising star of the UK jazz scene – his maverick imagination and magpie-like ability to blend a disparate world of influences has seen him compared to Django Bates. A key member of the Mercury-nominated Dinosaur, Elliot also recently formed a duo project with saxophonist Binker Golding as well as working as a soloist and with his trio.
In 2014, the Trio won the 2014 European Young Jazz Artist of the Year Award in Germany. The same year, they released their debut album Dreamland to rave reviews, described as ‘audaciously accomplished’ (The Guardian). One EP and twi other critically acclaimed records have followed – their last,The Influencing Machine, was named one of the albums of the year in both Downbeat Magazine and Jazzwise.
In April 2019 the Trio release their new album, Modern Times – a unique project recorded direct to Vinyl, each side in one continuous take, with no stops, no intermediate recording and mixing using tape or digital storage and manipulation, and no mixing or mastering after.
