Concert Hall Bar (entrance via Friends Terrace)
Celebrate the opening of our 2018 Aldeburgh Festival with this private view of works by Dennis Creffield, one of today’s most important draughtsmen whose work has already entered in the history of British drawing. In 1987 Creffield was commissioned by the Arts Council to draw all 26 medieval cathedrals of England. The result of over 2 years’ work and 10,000 miles’ travel, Creffield’s extraordinary charcoal drawings bring into relief the gothic splendour of East Anglia’s cathedrals.
We’ll also be joined by the writer and broadcaster Philip Dodd, who will be telling us more about Creffield’s fascinating journey of discovery.
