AYM Open Session: Beethoven Pastoral Project

Friday 21 Feb 2020 4pm

Part of See, Make & Do

‘If you wander through the fir-forests, think it was there Beethoven often poeticised, or, as it is called, composed.’

Beethoven, 1817

The international Beethoven Pastoral Project reflects the relationship between creativity and nature, and current concern about environmental neglect. Aldeburgh Young Musicians explore these topics in music, composition and performance.

Inspired by the musical and environmental heritage at our doorstep in Snape, we create twenty-first century notebooks, much as Beethoven created on his walks. Thematic and graphic scores, audio recordings, soundscapes, video and still photography, the written word and contemporary instrumental techniques all form part of the presentation.
