Aldeburgh Carnival

Saturday 19 – Monday 21 August

The Aldeburgh Carnival is one of the largest and long established in Suffolk. The first carnival was in 1927 and its roots go back further to the late 19th century. It is still managed by a committee of volunteers, receives no public funding and this year celebrates its 75th with the theme, ‘Amazing Aldeburgh’!

As the carnival begins on Friday 18 August, Snape Maltings presents a Carnival Prom of British Light Classics. Group A have been working with Sarah Jewell and a 7-piece band to create an all-singing, all-dancing Gypsy Swing inspired piece for the Carnival Parade at 2.30pm on Monday 21 August.

Snape Maltings have donated a David Gentleman limited edition print of Orford Ness for their Silent Auction. There are 38 lots on the table, generously donated by individuals and businesses, and include a limited edition print donated by Maggi Hambling and endorsed by her on the reverse. Both can be viewed at the Snape Maltings Box Office in Aldeburgh High Street.
