All music events until the end of April are cancelled, and the shops and cafes are temporarily closed in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. The site at Snape Maltings is still open for those who want to enjoy the fresh air and expansive natural environment of the River Alde estuary. More info

Fatty

Artists: Jessica Hickie-Kallenbach, Joel Wycherley, Laurie Tompkins

Series: Festival of New, Residencies

Ideas explored: integrating visual art with music, music and theatre, music influenced by current events

Fatty pilots a series of shows performed in and as TV. Fatty’s ultimate destination is to be binged as ‘episodes’ on screen(s). Jessica is episode 1’s lead.

Joel’s set is inside/outside: TV set, front lawn, magnolia y mould, dredged up ornaments. Laurie lags on violin, synth, samples; Jessica watches and sings. The mind runs fast while the body sags, sludge in a cage, fat coagulating on bones.

Joel is a visual artist and Laurie a composer. Joel has made videos and images for Laurie’s music in the past, but ‘Fatty’ is their first substantial collaboration from the ground up. Jessica is a singer, who sings in the group Still House Plants and has a strong visual sensibility. This is the first time we’ve all worked together, and it feels natural and strange.
