Bartosz Glowacki

Open Space artist Bartosz Glowacki is one of the leading lights of a new generation of accordionists.

His artistic goal is to improve awareness of the accordion in classical music, as well as to develop a new repertoire for his instrument, and he has used time on Open Space to help achieve this goal. Bartosz used Open Space to work on two projects.

The first project is related to his debut CD, and explored the performance possibilities that are presented by solo accordion works. Bartosz connected programmatically strong accordion works with poetry, visualisation and contemporary dance, exploring the endless fight between heaven and hell, spiritual characters, the hopeless pictures of Soviet prisons and voices of freedom.

The second project involved inviting composers both established and new to write new works for solo accordion through workshops and discussions.
