Retail Sales Manager

Retail Sales Manager

Full time, salary c £26 – 28k

Snape Maltings is one of East Anglia’s leading visitor destinations, attracting approximately half a million people each year.  Situated on the banks of the River Alde, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our shop is the home of carefully selected product ranges for house and garden, as well as an interesting range of food, clothing, books and stationery, and items for little ones, all beautifully displayed.  Our talented buying team source products which focus on design, provenance and difference.

SMTL is the commercial subsidiary of the newly merged charity Britten Pears Arts, which is based at Snape Maltings and at the Red House in Aldeburgh. All profits from the shops and cafes go towards funding Britten Pears Arts, one of the UK’s leading cultural organisations.

The main purpose of this role is to manage the retail team, consisting of 25 colleagues, most of whom are part time, in our three retail locations.

Candidates will be experienced managers with excellent leadership and commercial skills.  Familiarity with retailing kitchenware, decorative homewares/interiors and similar product ranges is preferred.  This role is based on the salesfloor as it is responsible for the day-to-day operation of 8,000 sq ft (approx.) retail space with a £1m+ annual turnover.  Priorities will include setting and maintaining retail standards, delivering excellent customer service, overseeing the flow of stock onto the salesfloor and working closely with the team to support their training and development.

We pride ourselves on offering customers a different experience to the usual high street retailers and the ability to apply your skills in our setting is essential.
